Citizens Foundation is a nationally recognized Nonprofit organization in the field of development, founded in 1997. Our core mission is to foster self-reliance among communities through a comprehensive approach that encompasses various sectors, including Health, Livelihood Promotion, and Natural Resource Management. Over the years, we have built a strong presence in 9 different states across India, including Jharkhand, Bihar, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Assam, Nagaland, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Haryana. Through our inclusive and participatory programs, we have touched the lives of over a million people. Over the last 25 years, we have evolved the expertise in Health, Natural Resource Management, Livelihood Promotion, Techno Managerial Services and Advocacy & Policy. We have delivered advocacy and techno–managerial support to the rural communities.
At Citizens Foundation, we firmly believe that self-reliance is the key to empowering impoverished and marginalized populations. Our vision and mission are deeply rooted in principles tailored to rural contexts, emphasizing community ownership and grassroots entrepreneurship. Our collaborative working model includes partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders, such as the Government of India, state governments, PSUs, UN Agencies, bilateral and multilateral organizations, public sector enterprises, corporate entities, national and international trusts, foundations, and educational institutions.

Today, Citizens Foundation stands with a multi-state presence and a dedicated team of more than 300 members. Our efforts extend to promoting equitable quality education, increasing women's participation in village development planning, and addressing sanitation challenges with a focus on sustainable solid and liquid waste management.
