A Second Chance: Overcoming TB with Support from Citizen Foundation

The Client (Jiwan Bauri) is a male, aged about 39 years, resident of Village: Laikdih, Bauri Tola, Nehru Road, Chirkunda, Nirsa, Dhanbad – 828202. He has a nice family which includes 2 daughters and 1 son. Unfortunately, his wife passed away after complete treatment of Tuberculosis on 2020-21 (NID: 9695998). After the demise of his wife due to TB, he is the only single parent who has to work towards survival of his family. He is currently a daily wage labor and struggling per day to earn money  for arranging   bread and butter for his family. He is not sure that the wage will be arranged on a per -day basis , but is  trying hard for it . With the help of local community member , he got an INDIRA AWAS facility as help where his children started residing  and with the  limited earning of his father they all are continuing their study in government school nearby Chirkunda, Nirsa, Dhanbad.

He tried a lot to save his wife from TB who was treated by one of the renowned private doctors of Chirkunda but he failed to save her. After 1 year of this incident he experienced cough for more than 3 weeks, fever and weight loss. Due to poor economic and health condition, he lost hope. In order to save his life partner, he lost a good amount of  his savings.  In such critical situation, he came to know about the MO of Citizen Foundation and TBHV- Chirkunda PHC. He went there and Dr. Sashi Bhushan Singh counselled him on starting DOT immediately so that after speedy recovery he could start his normal life and job for the survival of his family. He was counseled for the benefit of taking continuous medicines with the information about do’s and don’t’s on any adverse condition. He was also counseled on the diet plan by the MO as well as TBHV and advised sputum follow-up after 2 month of IP phase. 

 

After 6 months of complete TB medication and with proper follow up plan by NTEP Team and MO Dr. Sashi Bhushan Singh of Citizen Foundation at PHC Chirkunda, he started feeling better. He admitted that his life was saved by the quick help provided by the NTEP team and Citizen Foundation. He is now declared as “CURED “and he is now sustaining his daily life once again.
