Digitizing Governance: Transforming Gram Prashasan Kendras for Better Community Service

Overview 

The Gram Prashasan Kendra (GPK) which is also known as Panchayat office is a government institution which is responsible for maintaining the Gram Panchayat Units where the Panchayat President along with the team of Panchayat sits and work for the implementation of government schemes and other aspects at Gram Panchayat level. The said institution is working for the community and was also facing lack of infrastructure and digital connection which was internet as well as security conveniences like CCTV cameras. It needed support to become techno friendly along with an upgraded infrastructure so that it could cater to the community properly.

Outcome:

The HRDP Sikkim Citizens foundation supported by HDFC Parivartan took an initiative as per the demand of GPKs of two GPUs covered in project area to make the GPK techno friendly. This involved the following:

1. To provide furniture, cupboard, chair & tables, etc., along with shelves to maintain the documentation and administration aspects.
2. To installed CCTV Cameras in the premises for safety measures.
3. To installed Wi-Fi connection along with digital board of government schemes so that the regulated schemes are displayed over the screen for public interest,

 

Impact: It is well known that government institutions are for public. We took a step to be for those government institutions so that they could cater the community more efficiently.

Being a helping hand to the helper is again an achievement.
