Sanjeevani on Wheels: Bringing Vision and Care to Rural Bihar

Overview:

Citizens Foundation partnered with SBI Foundation in Bihar's Bhojpur district to implement the flagship program "SANJEEVANI-Clinic on Wheels." This initiative aims to provide health services to underserved communities, ensuring better access and timely assistance right at their doorstep. In addition to Mobile OPDs (MOPD), the project includes monthly awareness camps and quarterly specialized health and Swachha Bharat camps to raise awareness, provide screenings, and promote early detection. The medical unit comprises a dedicated team consisting of a Doctor, Lab Technician, Pharmacist, and Driver.

Outcome:

In Sarna Village, a special eye health camp was conducted, with 174 patients attending to receive treatment and advice for a range of eye-related concerns. The camp offered comprehensive eye exams and access to necessary treatments and referrals. Throughout the event, 28 patients were referred to higher government health facilities for further assistance. The success of the camp was thanks to the active participation and support of the local community. The residents of Sarna Village engaged eagerly, making use of the services offered and spreading awareness about the significance of eye health in the community.

Impact :

The Special Eye Health Camp in Sarna Village markedly improved access to eye care for underserved communities, reaching those marginalized from mainstream services. Its positive reception among locals not only underscores its impact but also highlights the importance of community-based healthcare initiatives in fostering well-being in rural areas.
