RENOVATION OF ANGANWADI CENTER (hdfc Parivartan)

 

Overview: The Anganwadi Center at Balapu, located in the Gangte Panchayat, Arunachal Pradesh was once a vital community center for early childhood education and nutrition. Over time, the center had fallen into a state of severe disrepair, nearly leading to its closure. Recognizing the critical need for intervention, Citizens Foundation, with support from HDFC Bank Parivartan, undertook a comprehensive renovation. The project aimed to restore the center to a functional, safe, and vibrant space for the children and the community.

 

Outcome: Today, the Anganwadi Center stands as a vibrant and well-maintained space. The sturdy new roof protects the children from rain and harsh weather, while the fresh paint inside and outside makes the center look inviting and lively. The new ceiling ensures a safe and comfortable environment, free from the previous dangers of falling debris. The educational wall art has transformed the classroom into an interactive and stimulating space, encouraging young minds to explore and learn

 

Challenges: Challenging terrain and poor roads lead to delays and increased transport costs. There's limited access to skilled labor and resources, unpredictable weather with heavy rains and landslides, and coordination issues with local authorities for permissions and support.

 

Impact: The renovation has provided a more child-friendly and stimulating environment, which is crucial for early childhood education. The upgraded infrastructure, better lighting, and more attractive interiors with murals create an inviting space for children to learn and grow.
