Overview :

Citizens Foundation under the HRDP Assam, supported by HDFC Bank Parivartan, empowers farmers by offering essential resources and sustainable agricultural solutions. It addresses challenges such as irrigation and farm management, exemplified by individuals like Anjit Basumatary. The program introduces drip irrigation, high-yielding jujube saplings, and ongoing technical support to boost agricultural productivity and promote sustainable practices.

Outcome :

• Successful cultivation of 212 fully grown jujube trees on Anjit’s two bighas of land.
• Implementation of drip irrigation, ensuring efficient water usage.
• Farmer gained technical knowledge and practical skills for better farm management.
• Anjit expanded his farm, planning to plant 100 more jujube saplings on his own initiative.

Impact:

• 47 quintals of jujube harvested and sold in four months, generating financial stability for Anjit.
• ₹4,500 per quintal price led to a significant increase in income, allowing reinvestment in farming.
• Creation of local employment opportunities, as Anjit now hires workers to assist with harvesting.
• Transformation of arid land into a thriving orchard, proving the effectiveness of targeted interventions.
